One standard across Sideways8 and RELAY.

This notice explains how Sideways8 LLC (“Sideways8,” “we,” or “us”) handles personal data on sideways-8.com and in the RELAY application. RELAY is intended for adults and is not directed to anyone under 18.

We collect only what supports a named purpose.

We do not add third-party advertising pixels or behavioral analytics to either property. Necessary hosting, authentication, and security providers may process short-lived technical data to operate and protect the services.

Core service is separate from optional collection.

RELAY requires only the data needed to authenticate you, maintain your private workspace, and complete actions you request. Optional product-improvement signals and UAT diagnostics are off by default and can be changed in RELAY’s Privacy & Data controls.

When you initiate an AI feature, RELAY sends the minimum prompt and selected context needed to produce that result to its AI service provider. Sideways8 does not use a product-improvement toggle as permission to share the content of your résumé, career materials, contacts, or private workspace.

RELAY uses essential authentication cookies. A LinkedIn connection adds encrypted, HTTP-only OAuth cookies only after you choose Connect; disconnecting clears the session. We do not use advertising cookies, so there is no “accept all” cookie banner.

Founder beta registration

We collect your authenticated email, name, chosen focus and optional industry to register your interest and arrange private beta access. We also retain the agreement version and time of your electronic acceptance as a contract record. You can withdraw your registration on the registration page. Your free month begins on your first RELAY sign-in after access is granted. RELAY retains a pseudonymous account hash, original beta dates and AI allowance total to prevent repeated free trials, including after workspace deletion; this record contains no profile, uploads or workspace content.

Defined limits, not indefinite storage.

• Public inquiries: retained while active and ordinarily deleted within 12 months after the last substantive interaction, unless a contract or legal need requires longer.
• RELAY workspace, imports, and uploads: retained while your account is active or until you delete the item or your RELAY data.
• Agreement records: the accepted version, account email, name and acceptance time may be retained for up to seven years after the relationship ends to establish the governing terms and comply with legal obligations.
• LinkedIn session: expires no later than 60 days and is cleared when you disconnect.
• UAT feedback: when introduced, identifiable feedback will be retained for no more than 12 months, then deleted or irreversibly de-identified.
• Provider logs and backups: retained under the shortest supported operational schedule and deleted or overwritten according to the provider’s secure lifecycle.

Access, correction, export, deletion, and withdrawal.

We extend these controls to every RELAY member regardless of location. In RELAY, open Profile & Controls → Privacy & Data to download a machine-readable export, change optional choices, or permanently delete your RELAY workspace. You may also ask us to access, correct, or delete personal data, or withdraw an optional choice. We may verify identity before fulfilling a request.

No sale. Limited service providers.

We do not sell personal data or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We disclose data only to service providers necessary for hosting, authentication, storage, connected services, AI actions you initiate, security, or legal compliance. Providers receive only the data needed for their role.

Isolation and least access.

RELAY authorization is enforced on the server using the authenticated account. Structured records are separated by owner, uploaded files use private object storage, connection tokens use encrypted secure cookies, and destructive account deletion requires an exact confirmation. No security method is perfect; if we identify a material incident, we will respond and notify as required.

Material changes require a new acknowledgment.

The effective date above identifies this notice version. RELAY records the version a member acknowledged. If a future change materially expands collection or use, RELAY will require a new acknowledgment before resuming personal-data synchronization.
